Marken & the lake
Cobbled pedestrian streets between the station and Lille Lungegårdsvann
Neighbourhood to wander
About
The wedge between the railway station and the lake is central Bergen at its most likeable. Marken has the cobbles and cafés. The octagonal lake has the KODE museums lined up along one side. A few blocks over, Skostredet has the vintage shops. None of it needs a ticket. This is the part of the city you use to fill gaps in a day, and the gaps end up among the best bits.

A walk that works
From the station walk Marken's cobbles toward the harbour, turn left and circle Lille Lungegårdsvann past the KODE row and the city park, then come back through Skostredet for the shops. It's flat and short, and stretches nicely if you stop for coffee.
