The museum of Hanseatic merchant life occupies one of the wharf's original trading houses: cramped bunks, fish presses, account rooms, the machinery of what Bryggen was actually for. The catch is that the main building has been under restoration for years. At times the nearby Schøtstuene assembly rooms have stood in as the visitable part. What's open changes as the project moves along, so check before you plan around it.
