Fløyen & Fløibanen
The city mountain · funicular from the centre
Don't miss

About
The easiest great thing in Bergen. The Fløibanen funicular leaves from a station a few minutes behind the fish market, and in under ten minutes you're 320-odd metres above the city. Everyone photographs the view from up there, with good reason. There's a café at the top, a playground, and easy forest paths if you want to keep walking. Best plan: ride up, then take the zig-zag path down, which keeps the view in front of you the whole way.
- 🕒 How long
- 1.5–3 hours; longer if you walk one way
- 👤 Suits
- Everyone. The easiest big payoff in Bergen.
- 🗓️ Season
- Great in any clear weather, and summer evenings up top are special. Paths can be icy in winter, though the funicular still runs.
