About

St Mary's has stood behind Bryggen since the 1100s, which makes it the oldest building in the city. Romanesque stonework outside; inside, a splendidly over-the-top baroque pulpit. It's a working church, so visiting hours bend around services and seasons. You'll walk past it anyway. If the door is open, step in. If not, the exterior covers the two-minute detour on its own.
