About

The stone fortress at the harbour mouth, a short stroll past Bryggen. The grounds are free, open most of the day, and good for an amble along the ramparts and lawns. The two medieval buildings inside are Håkonshallen, a 13th-century royal hall, and the Rosenkrantz Tower, which has a rooftop lookout. Those two charge admission and keep museum hours. Even if you skip the interiors, the grounds justify the detour.
