A south-west-facing bay of grass and coarse sand where Tromsø goes when the sun refuses to set. Bonfires, disposable grills, students pretending 12°C is beach weather. The mountains of Kvaløya line up across the water, and on a still June night the whole thing is quietly magical. Out of season it's a windswept walk with a view, pleasant enough without being a destination. The town's summer festivals happen here too. If you hear music from the south of the island, this is where it's coming from.
