Whale watching (winter season)
Humpbacks and orcas, boats from the harbour
Check it's open📅 Book ahead
About
In early winter, humpbacks and orcas follow the herring into the fjords north of Tromsø, and boats run from the harbour to meet them — rigid inflatables for the bold, catamarans for the comfortable. It is genuinely spectacular and genuinely weather-dependent, with long cold hours on deck. The season runs roughly November into January and shifts year to year with the herring, so treat this as a book-early, confirm-everything trip.
