The tilted-domino building at the south end of the harbour holds a compact Arctic experience centre: bearded seals, cold-water tanks, and a panoramic Svalbard film that's better than it needs to be. It's small. Adults without children will be done inside an hour. With kids it works well, and on a horizontal-sleet day its value doubles. The seal pool is the star, so check the feeding times when you arrive and plan around them.
