Grieg's villa stands on a wooded headland over a lake south of town, kept much as he left it. The tiny composing hut down by the water is where the actual work happened, and standing in front of it beats any wall text. It's a small, personal museum. In season there are often lunchtime concerts in the modern hall next door. Getting there takes a light-rail ride and a walk, and Fantoft stave church is on the same line, so most people sensibly do both in one trip.
