Vettakollen viewpoint hike

Short forest hike · city & fjord view

Recommended

About

A proper Nordmarka taste without committing a day: from Vettakollen metro station a marked forest path climbs to a rocky top with a wide view over the city and the fjord. It's a real uphill walk, roughly 45 minutes at a normal pace in our experience. It's also the kind of thing Oslo people do after work, and that's the appeal: actual forest, twenty minutes from the centre. Wear real shoes. The rock is slippery when wet.

🕒 How long
2–3 hours round trip including travel
👤 Suits
Anyone who can manage a steady uphill walk and wants the best view-per-effort in Oslo
🗓️ Season
Best snow-free (roughly May–October); doable in winter but icy. Spikes territory.
