Oslo's main public library, and far more interesting than that sounds: a striking modern building with open terraces, next to the Opera House, free to walk into. Norwegians treat libraries as public living rooms, and it shows; this is where the government held Princess Ingrid Alexandra's official 18th-birthday dinner in 2022. Sit for a while instead of ticking it off. Excellent free shelter when the weather turns.
